I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by my follower Deb. I’ve seen other people with this award, but I never thought I would actually have someone tag me with one! Heck, I didn’t even think anyone would read and/or comment on my blog posts. I don’t think my life is all that exciting for someone to have any interest reading about it.
Thank you Deb for nominating me. If you don’t know about her, you should take a look at her blog. Her prose is beautiful and she also has some very cute photos on her blog.
Origins of the Liebster Award
Liebster is a German word meaning dearest. According to a blog post on Sopphey Says, it appears that the award started with a blog post by Jasmin at Bird of Paradise. It was originally called Liebster Blog Award with the original image saying “Liebster Blog” instead of Liebster Award. It also had an image of a heart, but somehow that got lost. I found the image above of the word with a heart on it that I’m going to use.
Jasmin also wanted us to just share the award with 3-5 other bloggers whom had under 3000 followers. Deb’s rule is to share it with 5-10 bloggers with under 200 followers. I also have to answer 10 questions that Deb came up with. I’ve seen other bloggers that have the award with five questions and some that had a list of questions and you could pick one. It appears Jasmin never had this rule.
When I first saw the award I thought it was done by a website that picked out new blogs and gave them the award, but it is more of a chain blog then an award. In fact, Jasmin said that she was starting up the Liebster Blog Award to get more traffic to those that didn’t have many followers. Yet, just because it is more like a chain blog then an actual award, that doesn’t diminish the thoughtfulness of receiving one!
My Nominator’s Questions
How did you pick the name of your blog?
I have been told that I tend to mutter, which I guess is related to my social anxiety, so I just went with it with my title. I went with pink because it is one of my favorite colors and it is symbolic to homosexuality. I picked “Keith” because that is my first name.
What is your favorite television program?
I don’t watch too much television at all. I have U-verse, but I have the most basic package. My favorite channel is the Science Channel. If I had to pick one it would be Through the Wormhole. I use to watch Morgan Freeman when he was on The Electric Company where he taught me how how to pronounce words. Now he is teaching me all the mysteries of the universe.
If you could spend one day doing exactly what you enjoy doing, what would that be?
I really enjoy playing video games. I spend most of my day playing them already. In fact, I usually use my vacation time to play the new video games that come out. I’m the type to pre-order the game and get the collector’s edition. I have been wanting to write some video game reviews on this blog, but haven’t got around to it.
Why do you blog?
This is actually my third blog that I started. I had one on my own url using Movable Type, but my web hosting provider lost all of my information and I never backed it up. My second one was on blogger, but I got bored with it. I was doing some blogging for a video game blog that use WordPress and I liked how it was set up. I thought I would give blogging a go again. Yet, this time I thought I would not blog about my life and not just about my thoughts. I was usually just blogging my opinions on games or current events.
Do your friends and family know that you have a blog or do you prefer to keep it a secret from them?
None of my family knows about this blog at all. I also don’t share it with friends that I know in “real life”, but I have let some online friends know about it. I think I do prefer to keep it a secret, but it wouldn’t be too hard for them to find it if they really were trying. It isn’t easy to keep secrets in this day and age. With a little work and know-how, people can figure out what you are doing online with just your ISP address. It is even easier if you don’t have a firewall. Yet, then again, maybe I’m just paranoid.
Is your best friend a person or your pet?
My best friend is my cat. I’m so happy that she choose me to be her guardian! I named her Éowyn after the character from The Lord of the Rings. She’s has always been there for me more than any person in my life.
What is your favorite color and why?
My favorite color from a box of Crayola crayons when I was younger was yellow-orange. I think I loved that color because it reminded me of the sun, because I can always remember using that to color a sun in my drawing instead of the tradition yellow color.
I always liked the blue and yellow of the Los Angeles Rams during my teenage years. I’ve been a Rams fan since 1980 and I don’t really care for the colors that the have right now. Maybe I’m just a traditionalist, but I still love those older uniforms.
Now my favorite color is pink. It is just just a happy cheerful color. It pretty much grew on me. Yet, to me honest my favorite color can change depending on the mood I’m in. Isn’t that true with everyone?
If you could change one thing about your personality, what would it be?
I would like to be more comfortable in social situations. I use to think that I’m just very shy, but really I have social anxiety.
If you were visited by aliens from another planet what is the first thing you would want them to understand about our world?
That’s hard to say. I think I would be scared out of my wits! Yet, if I was calm and they seemed friendly, I probably would tell them about the diversity of humanity and how it is difficult for us to get along.
Do you believe in aliens?
I would like to think that we are not alone in the universe. With the number of stars in the universe, there is bound to be at least planet orbiting a star with life on it, even intelligent life.
I do like and believe in the Drake equation.
