About

Katherine Walter, born on March 17, 1970, served in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1992, including participation in Operation Desert Storm. She earned a Master’s degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Southeast Asian Studies from Northern Illinois University in 2000. After graduation, she worked as a human services caseworker with the Illinois Department of Human Services. In 2005, she joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a SNAP program specialist, a role she held until her retirement in 2019. In 2023, Katherine began pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in Social Sciences at National Louis University, and she expects to graduate in 2025. She looks forward to starting a second career teaching at the secondary school level. Katherine resides in Elgin, Illinois, where she enjoys the company of her beloved cat.
